FLUTE CARE

What can I do to take care of my flute ?

First, let us explain what you can't do: ...Your flute is made of wood (or, why not, of bamboo...), so avoid everything that could affect it: Moisture, heat, or too big temperature changes...So don't put your flute in your bath, don't play in the rain, don't leave it in your hot car in the sun, don't put it in an oven (even if you have wetted it in the rain) , don't play your flute outside if it's too cold (your flute could split , and, anyhow, your fingers would be too frozen to play...), don't let it on the ground (dogs and children like to play with, and adults use to stomp on it...), and don't hit somebody with....What you can do is simple: If your flute seems too dry , too dull , it needs some oil, so take the time , one or two times a year to give it some good , very pure oil (we recommend the baby oil, like the Johnson one...Or some beeswax)

What can I do after playing ?

Try to remove all the moisture in the SAC (The slow air chamber, the one you blow into), and in the two sound holes and flue area...Remove the totem, and blow shortly (but hardly) in the mouth hole to remove the moisture drops from the SAC, and clean the sound holes, flue and totem bottom with a clean cloth. After that, let your flute dry without the totem until the next stage.
