Here is the raw branch, sent from Alberta by Lura Koch, Just when i've started to strip the bark of.

I always make the future shape of the flute, including mouth end and nest, first ...This way, I know exactly how to split and gouge the branch.

This branch is from a diamond willow tree, wich show red "diamonds" at some places...A pleasant soft wood to work with.

This branch show a huge diamond a this end. It will be an expensive one...Beware of your purse Lura !!

After the splitting, and hand gouging process...

...made in 2 hours and a half, listening to the Lura CD.

The challenge with this one was to split in a twisted motion, to keep the big diamond a the end intact. |

Some glue, a long ruber band, and the branch revive...And it's time to go to bed, and wait for tomorrow, when the glue will be dry and the man rested... |
